Rising Through the Levels: How Spiritual Practice Prepares Us to Bend Time

Image
Spiritual mass, presence, and the structured path to bending time and space. For centuries, Muslims have read stories about tayy al‑arḍ — the ability of prophets, saints, and the awliyā’ to cross great distances instantly. Many imagine this as a miracle granted only to a few. Yet our own texts hint that this phenomenon is not just an external miracle but a direct outcome of spiritual density — what physics would call “mass” — built up through practice. In physics, mass bends time. The greater the mass, the slower time flows around it. If spiritual “mass” is real — the weight of purity, dhikr, knowledge, and presence — then time itself can bend around the soul. In our structured levels of practice , this is exactly what is happening: Levels 1–2 purify the vessel, stabilizing the ego through ritual, dhikr, and discipline. Levels 3–4 expand perception with tafsīr, fasāha, and balāgha, teaching the soul to hold multiple realities at once. Higher levels build high‑density pr...

The Loss of Unity: A Personal Journey

Image
The Loss of Unity: A Personal Journey It was around the 2nd of Muharram in Toronto. At a commemoration ceremony, Sayyid Mahdi Modaressi spoke on the big screen: “Time is moving forward. If we do not progress, we will die, because time does not stand still. We must move with time.” Those words anchored something I had been carrying silently for years. Back in 2006, I had asked myself — or the universe — how do we outrun time? It took nearly two decades to uncover the answer. What began to emerge was that to outrun time is not to fight it but to expand ourselves — to grow inwardly, so that we are no longer crushed by the entropy the world is heading toward. At the point where this expansion connects with the One who can take us further, we discover that we have not been moving against time, but beyond it. This intention to bridge the gap — between ourselves and the living Imam (atfs), between the fragmentation of our age and the awaited wholeness — drove everything that followed...

When Mass Bends Time: From Physics to the Soul

Image
How Einstein’s Relativity and Sufi Wisdom Meet in the Mystery of Time Einstein showed us that mass bends time . The greater the mass, the stronger its pull, the slower time moves around it. In physics, this is gravitational time dilation . But what if mass is more than physical? What if mass also belongs to the soul or to knowledge itself? Because isn’t there a way in which: A heart heavy with wisdom seems to slow the chaos of life, drawing others into stillness? A moment rich with meaning stretches, while empty moments flutter past unnoticed? The light and the weighty experience time differently. A shallow existence feels fast, fragmented; a soul aligned with truth makes each moment thick with eternity. Sufi and Islamic philosophers hinted at this for centuries. Al-Ghazali wrote of time not as mere physical sequence but as the unfolding of awareness. Ibn ‘Arabi spoke of the “ever-renewed creation” where each instant carries divine disclosure (tajalli), its dept...

Unveiling the Sacred Geometry of the Qur’an

Image
Welcome to Sacred Geometry of the Qur’an — a space where spirituality, mathematics, and divine revelation meet. For centuries, the Qur’an has been read for its words, meanings, and guidance. But beneath its verses lies another layer: a hidden architecture of numbers, shapes, and cosmic patterns — the silent language of the Divine that speaks in geometry, proportion, and harmony. This blog will explore: Numerical Mysteries : From Abjad values to verse counts, uncover how numbers whisper secrets of creation. Sacred Geometry : The vesica piscis, polygons, and mandalas that reflect divine order. Spiritual Alchemy : How Qur’anic verses guide the inner journey from self to spirit, from chaos to harmony. We begin here, with Surah Al-‘Asr (103) — a chapter of time, patience, and truth. Through numbers and shapes, we will reveal how each verse carries a divine rhythm waiting to be rediscovered. Join us as we map the Qur’an, verse by verse , into a tapestry of light, meaning, a...
